Good day,
We recently rolled out patch 7 of SAPGUI 7.40 using our production installation server. When we first tested the rollout on our development installation server we used SAPSetup 9.0.70.0 which was the most recent at the time. We didn't experience any issues with the testing so we rolled out the same release to our production installation server with over 600 clients.
The last update on our production server was with 7.40 patch 4 - we only send out every 2nd patch release to avoid too many issues. What we then experienced is that many clients ran the update for patch 7 but it did not update the version information i.e. it still displays patch 4 !
I analysed several log files of the clients with this issue and discovered they all had a VBScript error:
NwSapsAtlC 1E Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Error message: Unknown error 0x800A01B6. Error code 0x800a01b6.
I subsequently decided to release SAPSetup 9.0.71.0 to our production server after reading that it fixed an issue relating to the above. This patch was only released just after our rollout, murphy's law.
The issue is that many clients still display patch 4 even though it looks like all the components have been updated and are identical to a client showing the correct patch 7. The good news is the VBScript error is gone.
Do you think the next SAPGUI patch release will correct the versioning and I should just leave it as is ?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Regards,
Nelis
