i attempt to install SAP Gui from an installation server to a win7 64 bit client. At first I made a new package which contained SAPGui + Logonpad + ECL Viewer + Automatic Workstation Update. After starting SapGuiSetup an choosing the predefined package the installation screen just vanished. After some try and error runs it seems the installation process terminates every time i try to install a package which contains the Automatic Workstation Update product. There are some error messages in the installation log:

I am evaluating SAP GUI 7.30rev3 for OS X for deployment in our environment, and appear to have run into a critical problem.

I am testing on a machine with OS X 10.8.3, with the JDK 7u40 early access java runtime.

Our site uses SNC with GSS-API/Kerberos for authentication, but the 7.30rev3 installer does not provide a SNC GSS library, named sncgss.dyld or otherwise, so upon an attempt to connect, SncPDLInit() errors out with 'Unable to load GSS-API dyld Shared Library named "sncgss.dyld"'.  The previous release we have deployed, 7.20rev4, does provide a sncgss.dyld library in the application bundle's Contents/Resources/bin/ directory.  However, the sncgss.dyld library in the 7.20 release is 32-bit only (for intel processors), and the 7.30 release is 64-bit only.  The workaround given in http://scn.sap.com/thread/1851956 to run in 32-bit mode therefore no longer applies.

That thread is almost 3 years old, now, and the other threads I could find about SNC and GSS libraries are as old or older.  http://scn.sap.com/thread/2011188 makes the interesting claim that setting SNC_LIB to /usr/lib/libgssapi_krb5.dylib is an effective workaround in the poster's environment of SAP 7.20rev5 and OS X Lion, but this has not brought me success.  Using SNC_LIB to cause SAP to use several different libgssapi_krb5 shared libraries from different versions of OS X, or even from a locally-compiled version of MIT krb5 (the system library is derived from the Heimdal kerberos distribution), only results in a segfault at runtime.  This is not surprising, given that the sncgss.dyld from 7.20rev4 only exports symbols with an sap prefix, such as sapgss_init_sec_context.  The interface for these routines is not documented, and even if an external gssapi library did provide the same interfaces, the dlopen()/dlsym() approach used by the SAP GUI would be unable to use an external gssapi library that did not provide symbols with the sap prefix.

The thread in http://scn.sap.com/thread/1851956 includes a link to a (now-defunct) ftp site where a sncgssk5.dyld could be downloaded, but I believe that the libraries available there would only have been 32-bit anyway.

I have therefore come to the conclusion that the SAP GUI 7.30rev3 for OS X is simply not usable with SNC/GSS/Kerberos unless SAP supplies a library that provides the sncgss interface.  I would be delighted if this conclusion was incorrect, and would appreciate additional (hopefully authoritative) information on the subject.  Perhaps there are plans to supply such a library in a future update?

we are looking for a function, to add entries into a sap logon of user remotely or automatically.

What I mean is, sometimes we get a new system or the user should work on a system for what he is not having the entry at the moment and therefore we have to add an entry.

And that we don't have to do this manually on every pc, we are looking for an automatism.

E.g. an .exe file which the user has to execute and he will get the new entry.

Does someone now a functionality for this?

As with some of the previous myths, this started with a grain of truth that somehow got stretched beyond reality. SAP Screen Personas helps people make SAP easier to use. The entire Personas story is about ease-of-use. So, it is certainly a logical extension that even the installation is very simple; this part is true.

Installing Personas

SAP Screen Personas is so easy to use that people think they do not even need to read the documentation. For building screens, this might be true. For installing Personas, it is an entirely different matter.

Every SAP environment is unique. Since Personas installs into your SAP NetWeaver ABAP stack, you should have a qualified basis person doing this work. For a highly skilled SAP expert, the installation and configuration process is very straightforward, once you read the documentation. The manual explains what to do and why each step is important.

One customer said at TechEd Amsterdam that it took him about 15 minutes to install the Personas add-on and maybe another 45 minutes to complete all the configuration steps. This was, of course, after he spent the time reading the installation documentation.

Use the Latest Versions and Notes

If you want Personas to run best, it is very important that you have the correct version of all the components:

It is also advisable to check relevant notes to ensure there are no known issues. We maintain a current list of all recommended notes for Personas on SCN.

So, if you know what you are doing, or read the manual and follow the steps, installing and configuring SAP Screen Personas is fast and easy. But, it’s not a 1-click installation.

Could someone please advise me how I check what patches have been applies to a SAP installation and also where I can download them?

I have just configured an intercompany EDI message (Automatic Posting To Vendor Account) and I am having some trouble in the timing of processing the EDI message.

I need to process de EDI just after release to accounting the SD billing document. Note that the creation of the SD billing document (in VF01) and its accounting are deferred in time.

Is it possible to achieve it with Standard?

If not, can you indicate me an exit to make a prior release to accounting validation so that only the released billing documents would be picked from some kind of a Job (for example RSNAST00).

Any other suggestions are welcome.

I’m experiencing an issue when I add a “Group Box” in Personas.  I want to take a few fields from the “Marketing” tab on the display customer transaction (XD03) and merge these fields to another tab.

I’ve followed the tutorial posted by Tobias (http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-35479) and I am able to get the fields from the “Marketing” tab to the “Control” tab.

However, I only want a few of these fields to be displayed on the “Control Data” tab.  If I move the entire group box, I can hide fields that I don’t want to see.  But, I can’t move the “Key Figures” group box up any further so that there is not too much space between the two title bars because the group box has a set size.  When I modify the size, a scroll bar appears for the Group Box, even if there aren’t any fields that are marked as visible to be displayed. 

Since I’m only moving a few of these fields, I decided to instead create my own “Group box” and once again move the fields I’m interested in.  This looks more visually appealing and doesn’t take up too much space.

However, now when I navigate to the “Sales Area Data” and select the “Shipping” tab, these group boxes are also displayed there.              

So when adding a groupbox in Personas on the second tab of “General Data”, this groupbox also appears on the second tab of the “Sales Area Data”.  Has anyone else faced this issue?  I’ve tried hiding the group box as well as deleting it, but if I do this on the “Shipping” tab, it also deletes them from the “Control Data” tab, which is where I want these Groupboxes to actually be. Does anyone have any idea how to stop a groupbox from appearing on a corresponding tab?  I’d appreciate any guidance/solutions.

Trying to merge some tabs, just like described in Tobias Queck tutorial SAP Screen Personas - How to merge tabs, but no luck so far. Every time I want to jump to another tab to get some interesting fields, Screen Personas crashes with the following error:

An unexpected behavior has been detected and you have been disconnected for your own safety - please log in again.

Anyone who knows how to resolve this?

(Tried it in FireFox and Internet Explorer)

Hi All,

I have programmed a script button in Personas which reads the PO Number from a field and opens the correct PO. It goes to the standard ME23N PO Screen and calls the Other PO button and enters the desired PO number to switch to correct PO.

Now if the PO Number is wrong, the script opens the last PO which was opened previously. It does not displays any message or the standard message 'E:Document <PONumber> does not exist'.

Is there a way, I can know that the script has failed and the right PO has not selected?

Adding a script button to be called from handler for comparing the initial number and reading the new number from the screen is not working.

Any better ideas?

I have a user who experiences significant delay (hourglass) when accessing an existing (large) sales order using VA02. This user also sees error VI 403 (the header business data does not apply to item XXX). However, others do not have these issues when accessing the same sales order, NOR does the user in question have the problem when using a different computer.

Please note the following:

1> She received a new computer. Same problem before and after.

2> SAP GUI was upgraded from 7.20 to 7.30. Same problem before and after.

3> Again, same user ID different computer, no problem.

4> Any SAP user ID (with her Windows ID) on her computer same problem.

5> Deleting the user's Windows profile on the PC temporarily fixes the problem, but it quickly recurs

6> User is running "enjoy theme" in GUI settings and has set a different system color. That's the only GUI customization I'm aware of.

This indicates to me that there are GUI-settings for this user that are retained on the PC which are causing the problem. The new PC was built using a generic image, but the user's previous Documents were restored.

Can anyone suggest what may be causing this issue and/or anything I can try to resolve this?

We want to upgrade from SAP GUI 7.20 to SAP GUI 7.30 (some of them are already 7.30 SP 0) soon but I have the following problem:

On many (200+) of our clients SAP GUI wasn't installed from an installation server but from a local source. Therefore I created a .reg file which changes the source in the registry as follows:

When I now start the GUI on a client (Windows 7, SAP GUI 7.30 SP 0) and try to get an upgrade notification from the server (open it max. 10 times), nothing happens. I first though this is caused by the missing share so I created a .bat to get a share with "net use":

net use \\<netshare>\InstServer

Windows says the command was executed successful but the update notification still doesn't show up.

Anything else I have forgotten? Any help will be appreciated.

The Note says that I have to download the Web Dynpro Client for Windows.

But the Only Software, that I found is Web Dynpro Flex Client.

Could you tell me, which software is the right one.

When I launch the mainapp page, the system is prompting for user credentials.

Then I get "System Selection" screen where the system I have configured is listed on the left.

But when I click that it is not showing anything.

please see the screenshot below.

I have a strange problem and I hope some of you can help me out.

If I want to open an attachment, using TAC: ME53N (Display Purchase Requisition) > Service for Object > Attachment List, I get the attached SAP GUI Security notice "The system is trying to execute the program saphttp with the command line /H/SAPSERVER.domain.com sapgw00"

If I allow this action, the attached pdf file opened as it should be. If I use deny, the pdf file opens as well (don't know why, but that's not the problem).

My problem is, that I cannot find out which string I have to use in the SAP GUI Security settings, to say let saphttp open the pdf file without to ask me everytime.

I have set up the Security settings with that string:

Type: Commandline

Object: /H/SAPSERVER.domain.com/*

Action: Granted

But this doesn't help. Does somebody know which string I have to use, so that this popup never comes up anymore?

I got invaluable help from those wonderful articles by Steve Rumsby andTobias Queck provided valuable insight about Personas. I wish to thank them and all contributors for providing help, guidance and ideas.

Now moving to the point

As I will be doing more and more complex work using Personas, I thought it is time to be aware of the best practices for Personas. If such set doesn't exist, I am glad to create one through this discussion. I have read Steve Rumsby already discussing in his post Personas idioms

1. I learnt following things in my 10 days with Personas.
   1. Keep it simple. It can be extremely difficult to do things in a single script. Break your scripts in smaller chunks and proceed.
   2. Break IF condition is chunks. First handle the negative conditin and then proceed with others, each on a separate PUSH.
   3. If you are processing bulk data and exploring selection, then keep a stricter SELECTION criteria. I noticed that while using ME2L, with a larger date range the browser (IE 8.0) took forever to load, especially customized flavor.
   4. Insert Refresh Screen before COPY and IF statements
2. Problems I am facing
   1. How to evaluate whether a requirement can be achieved using Personas?
   2. How to handle errors? The trick I am using is read here on SCN and that is, Check for the status bar. However there is no way to differentiate between warning and error messages.Everytime if a message pops up, I just come back to main screen showing it to the user. I tackled some messages by removing ENTER and hitting the action buttons instead, but still no way to identify message type and choice proceed in case of a warning message makes thing bit tough.
   3. Checking existance of data - Again reliance on screen fields. I check whether the control is available. If it is not assume that value doesn't exist. However, this can be tricky in scenarios like reading PO statuses. In some case I see Delivery and Invoice status as 3rd and 4th and sometimes they are 2nd and 3rd. How to tackle similar issues?
   4. I am not happy about the current problem with checkboxes.  I was performing some conditional scripting in PA30. I had copied checkboxes values in variables but when I tried comparing them, It failed totally. Finally I checked there values on Presonas screen and populated variables using JS, and  it worked.
   5. Dealing with tables or multiple rows can be tricky. We have no direct way to paste table in Persona screen.

I will appreciate contributions, inputs from other members.
