Personas: How to make direct backstep jump (Exit/Cancel) when Confirm note is shown?

$
0
0

Hi Personas experts,

I have three screens in my Personas app: Screen_A which is the initial Personas screen, Screen_B which is an obsolete screen to be skipped using Personas, and Screen_C which is the result screen. The UI flow is shown below:

Normal SAP process will follow this UI sequence:

   Screen_A > Screen_B > Screen_C

By using Personas, the UI flow is simplified as (note that Screen_B is skipped now):

  Screen_A > Screen_C

Now look at the backstepping, currently, it goes like:

  Screen_C > press Exit > Confirm Prompt is show> select No > Screen_B > press Exit> Screen_A

What I want to have is to skip the Screen_B, ie:

  Screen_C > press Exit > Confirm Prompt is show> select No > Screen_A

I tried to write a script to Push Exit button on Screen_B, but due to the Confirm note shown, it does not work giving error.

Anyone has an idea how to handle such a case where user has to confirm the note first?

Thanks a lot!

Announcing SAP GUI for Windows 7.40

$
0
0

On behalf of the SAP GUI team, I am delighted to announce that SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 will be released on October 8th. This release offers the following new features:

  • SAP Blue Crystal Theme

SAP Blue Crystal is a new visual design theme which succeeds Corbu. It is the standard theme of Fiori applications and has been adapted to the specific needs of SAP GUI. Furthermore, it is fully compatible with the previous themes and comes with a new color palette and icons which are better scalable. The background texture has a stroke pattern in white and light blue with a gradient layer. The picture below shows the new Blue Crystal theme in comparison to the Signature theme which is still the default for SAP GUI for Windows:

Blue Crystal and Signature Comparison 2 en.jpg

  • SAP NetWeaver Business Client Integration

As of SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC) 5.0, which is delivered on the SAP GUI DVD, SAP GUI for Windows can be embedded into the NWBC, so that the user has one shell that unifies multiple frontends. One desktop/taskbar icon consolidates NWBC and SAP GUI sessions, tasks, frequently used links etc. in a tabbed view NWBC frame as shown in the picture below.

Auswahl nwbc sapgui2.png

For the integration, you simply install SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 together with the SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC) 5.0.  This has the following advantages:

    • Easier Configuration: The persisted connection and connection configuration data from SAP GUI for Windows, SAP GUI for Java and NWBC is unified in a modern and easy way:
        • There are only two configuration files involved and they are stored in the same directory.
        • Configuration files can either be stored locally or on a central server or share.
        • Deployment options “pull” and “push” are available.
        • The configuration files are the same for SAP GUI for Windows, SAP GUI for Java and NWBC.

This new format is called “SAP UI Landscape”.

    • Automatic Data Migration: If SAP GUI has been used already, the connection data will be migrated automatically into the SAP UI Landscape format.
    • Embedded and Parallel Use of SAP GUI: When SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 is installed together with NWBC, by default, SAP GUI and SAP GUI Shortcuts will be launched through NWBC. However, you have also the possibility to use SAP GUI and NWBC in parallel. To do so, you merely have so select the new component Install SAP GUI Desktop Icon / Shortcuts even though NWBC is installed to install the SAP Logon (Pad) Desktop Icon and to register SAP GUI shortcuts to SAP Logon.

Auswahl nwbc sapgui.png

Note: At the moment, these new configuration features are only available when using SAP GUI together with NWBC. However, in the long run, this procedure will become the default for all SAP GUI installation and configuration scenarios.

Thus, with SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 you have the option to either run SAP GUI standalone with the old configuration files (fully compatible to SAP GUI for Windows 7.30) or run SAP GUI embedded into NWBC with the new SAP UI Landscape format.

  • Installation Improvement

Registry values can now be set on installation package level, for example, for the following SAP GUI options:

    • Accessibility
    • Path to the SAP GUI branding image
    • Path to the Central Configuration File (new and old format)
    • SAP GUI Theme

You will find the whole list on the package configuration tab in NWSAPSetup.

  • SAP Screenreader Extensions

SAP GUI Screen Reader Extensions (SRX) are now part of the SAP GUI for Windows installation, see note 1139953.

SRX enable the use of SAP GUI together with the screen reader program Jaws for Windows. The Extensions are Jaws-based scripts that make the SAP GUI accessible via the SAP GUI object model.

And finally a few remarks on the support and maintenance strategy:

  • End of support of SAP GUI for Windows 7.30 is on October 31st, 2015 (see note 147519). As of July 15, 2015 the support will already be „limited“.
  • SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 is compatible and will be maintained until January 9, 2018.
  • We urgently recommend to start planning upgrades to 7.40.

Universal Clients for Accessing SAP Systems

SAP GUI is SAP's universal client for accessing SAP functionality in SAP applications such as - SAP ERP, SAP Business Suite (SAP CRM, SAP SCM and SAP PLM), SAP Business Intelligence and so on. SAP GUI functions like a browser. It gets information from the SAP server like what, where, when and how, to display contents in its window. All members of the SAP GUI family have unique attributes that make them especially suited for different user environments. SAP GUI comes in the following three different flavors:

SAP GUI for Windows
SAP GUI for Windows is an implementation especially designed for the Windows operating system, providing a Windows-like user experience and integration with other applications, based on OLE interfaces or ActiveX controls.

SAP GUI for the Java Environment

SAP GUI for the Java environment is a unified SAP frontend for multiple platforms. It is based on a platform-independent architecture and Java implementation. As a major benefit, it provides access to SAP applications that are based on Control-Enabling and therefore used to be reserved for Windows users in the past. Please, note that SAP GUI for Java is also available on Windows.

SAP GUI for HTML

SAP GUI for HTML automatically maps the screen elements in SAP transactions to HTML using HTML Business functions available within the SAP Internet Transaction Server. A web browser is sufficient to access almost all transactions. Please note: Since SAP GUI for HTML is an application running on the ITS, you find corresponding information on the ITS page.
You can find detailed information on the different SAP GUI types under the following links:

Installation

SAP GUI for Windows

This documentation describes how to install and distribute the SAP front-end software on Windows with the SAP Setup front-end deployment and software management solution. The benefits of using SAP Setup are that you can insert new SAP front-end components on to an existing installation server and deploy multiple components. In addition, SAP Setup offers new diagnostic and check tools for better support. The key processes are wizard-driven and you have new and powerful command-line parameters. Also, it is possible to trigger an unattended automatic workstation update.

This document provides an overview and further information about the frontend installation and distribution tool SAP Setup.

SAP GUI for Java

This archive contains among others the SAP GUI for Java installation information.

SAP GUI for HTML/ITS

SAP@Web Installation Guide (ITS 6.20)
SAP GUI for HTML is running on the ITS, therefore the ITS installation information is relevant in this case. Since the ITS is integrated in SAP NW as of Release 2004, you do not need to install SAP GUI for HTML/ITS separately on systems as of this release. It comes with  the package. For the non-integrated, standalone ITS, you find installation information in the SAP@Web Installation Guide for ITS 6.20 which describes how to install the standalone SAP Internet Transaction Server (ITS 6.20) and related tools on released Windows and Linux platforms.

Platform Support and Maintenance Strategy

You find information on the supported platforms in the Support Matrix for SAP GUI for Windows, the Support Matrix for SAP GUI for Java or in  SAP GUI section of the Product Availability Matrix (PAM).

General Information
Frontend Network Requirements (SMP Login required!)
Distributed landscapes today lead to the fact that an increasing number of users connect to a central system from dispersed sites with varying degrees of available bandwidth. As a consequence, user access is through local area network (LAN) and wide area network WAN (dial-up, frame relay, Internet, etc.). This paper contains a description of SAP's frontend characteristics from both a LAN and a WAN perspective.
Please note that this paper does not discuss server-to-server traffic or printing.

SAP Screen Personas allows companies to improve user productivity by personalizing their SAP ERP screens. You can simplify screens by removing fields you don't use, converting free text entry to pull-down menus, and automating recurring keystrokes.

By providing the right information to the right users in the right context, they can get more done in less time with greater accuracy. With more intuitive SAP screens, organizations can enhance user satisfaction, minimize training time, and spend less money on screen modifications. SAP Screen Personas is one of several ways to improve SAP usability.

Suppress popup message about Personas storage size increase?

Is it possible to get rid of the popup message appearing after logon that asks for storage space increase?

It would be also great to disable the popup coming from Silverlight when the user wants to use the clipboard and SL asks for permission to do so... but I don't think that's going to work. However the above originates from Personas itself, so I figure there should be a way to not show it.

Thanks.

Hi!

I'm REALLY new into this stuff, and it can be I'm asking silly question but.

When I try to record use case thru Script Recorder on my SAP Logon 6.40 patch level 17 no script is generated in C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\SapWorkDir.

I've previousley managed to record the same thing on SAP Logon 6.20 rel 15.

Screen Personas and NWBC - Url parameters for resizing screen

$

Hi,

We are rendering Screen Personas 2.0 screens in NWBC and the Personas screens render correctly. We are wrapping the Short links in a BSP application in PFCG and use the parameter frameless=true so that end users cannot switch between flavors. Is there a list of all the parameters available?

The basis for the question is that after rendering in NWBC we noticed that the user has to scroll horizontally and vertically to reach other parts of the screen which would have been easier in a browser. We would like to resize the personas screens in NWBC so that the entire content can be displayed in the content area and scroll bars can be disabled.

Thanks,

Guys - starting to go a bit mad with this ... I've had this RFC working but I've made a few changes and now it doesn't work. Part of the change was to add in the random number parameter to ensure a non-cached result.

The function module works from SE37 & when called directly from a browser.

Even when I take the random parameter back out again it still doesn't work ... maybe I've nudged something else out of whack but I've looked and looked and can't see a problem.

Any suggestions very welcome.

In some of our transactions - we have PDF documents launched from standard SAP tcodes.

In ScreenPersonas - it opens this PDF document in an HTML control box - but if you try to scroll down - the rest of the document is not shown (see attached images).

If you maximize the HTML control box the document shows up - but I'd like to avoid this extra click.

Any suggestions on how we can get the entire PDF to open properly in the popup?

Create QR Barcode Scanner Function in SAP Screen Personas

$
0
0

I would like to share how to add the QR barcode (or any barcode) scanner functionality in SAP Screen Personas. In this example, I am using the transaction code MM03 - Display material and add the "Scan QR code" button to scan the QR code from the label and put the result in the material number textfield. For this case, instead of using the WebRFC I am using HTML5 with the browser localStorage function.

For this to be working, you need to use the Google Chrome browser and desktop/laptop with webcam.

b1.jpg

Step by Step to Create the QR Code Scanner

  1. Create two scripts in SAP Screen Personas: Scan QR Code and Get QR Code.
    b3.jpg
  2. Scan QR Code will call the javascript that will launch the HTML5 QR Barcode Scanner.
    b2.jpg
    The javascript code as follows:
    var pageURL = 'http//<sap_netweaver>/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/ZBarcode1/index.html';
    var w = 400;
    var h = 400;
    var left = (screen.width - w) / 2;
    var top = (screen.height - h) / 4;
    var targetWin = window.open(pageURL, '', 'toolbar=no, location=no, directories=no, status=no, menubar=no, scrollbars=no, resizable=no, copyhistory=no, width=' + w + ', height=' + h + ', top=' + top + ', left=' + left);
    var timer = setInterval(checkChild, 500);
    function checkChild(val) {
    if (targetWin.closed) {
    clearInterval(timer);
    }
    }

  3. Get QR Code will get the barcode value from the browser local storage qrcode, copy the value to textfield and clear the local storage.
    b4.jpg
  4. Link the textfield to the Get QR Code button.
    b5.jpg
  5. And finally we need to hide the Get QR Code button.

HTML5 QR Barcode Scanner

For the QR barcode scanner, I have modified a little bit of source-code (index.html& webqr.js)  from https://github.com/LazarSoft/jsqrcode.

In the webqr.js, I have modified the code in the read function:

function read(a) {  localStorage.setItem('qrcode', a); // variable a is the value of QR code  localStream.stop(); //stop the webcam stream  var html = "<br>";  if (a.indexOf("http://") === 0 || a.indexOf("https://") === 0)  html += "<a target='_blank' href='" + a + "'>" + a + "</a><br>";  html += "<b>" + htmlEntities(a) + "</b><br><br>";  document.getElementById("result").innerHTML = html;  closeWindows(); //close the child window
}

It's basically to store the QR code result (variable a) in the browser local storage qrcode, stop the webcam stream and close the child window, closeWindows();

The completed source code can be found in the attached file or in my GitHub: ferrygun/PersonasQRBarcode · GitHub

Now, we have on some PCs the following Problem:

The User can open the Logon Pad. But when he chooses an Entry to a system, the Logon Pad closes immidiately without accessing to the System.

The problem only occurs on some Users local PC.

Also they have Solid Works on their PC. The connection from Solid Works to SAP also doesn't work.

But there comes an Error Message, here is the german text:
